A couple of months ago I went to WhatsApp cycling group meet up for a ride. There was a new rider there and I introduced myself and upon seeing he was from the US, we went through the normal conversation of where are you from etc – he said Ohio, and I asked where- he said small city near Cleveland, and asked where specifically and he said Wooster. I immediately told him I was a Fighting Scot alum, Class of 1984. Turned out to be retired Biology Professor William Morgan! So since then we have been meeting frequently for rides into the beautiful area of Valencian Community, where we have both retired in the past couple of years. Truly a small world and great connection based on our educational connection to the College of Wooster.

Ben Larson-Wolbrink ’97 hosted a group of longtime friends in Detroit, Michigan to celebrate their collective 50th birthdays.

In attendance were Amelia Sutton, Eric Bloom, Ryan Murrey, Christina (Leed) Nelson, Ben Larson-Wolbrink, and Nathaniel Missildine; Alison (Flint) Denman, Meredith Pangrace and Meredith Riddle. “We truly enjoyed exploring the city and celebration our milestone birthdays together”.

Richard and I are now living in the beautiful foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains on the edge of Tucson, AZ, which offers all the advantages of the State’s second largest city and the University of Arizona.

We walk everywhere, most of it uphill and down – even to meals and community events. Javelinas and other wildlife have the right-of-way. And, yes, it does get hot, but there are many large native trees and shrubs and plenty of birds – but no snow plows!

In January of this year, on a pleasant sunny day, we celebrated our 73^rd wedding anniversary.

Mark Hoffman ’91 Premieres Film at Cleveland International Film Festival

Wooster alumnus, Mark Hoffman ’91, wrote and directed the feature film A Simple Machine, which will screen at the Cleveland International Film Festival April, 2026. The film will be shown April 12 at Playhouse Square and April 13 at the Cedar Lee Theatre as part of the festival’s programming. Celebrating its 50th year in 2026, the festival showcases hundreds of films from around the world and is considered one of the Midwest’s premier international film events.. Birdie Lawrence Frey turned 100 in February. Birdie lives in an independent living apartment in a senior facility in Indianapolis, IN. She recently welcomed her third great-grandchild, Elizabeth Burke, daughter of Stacie Ford Burke and Matt Burke.

So Janet Dial, ‘84, Andy Dykstra,’93, and Ann and Pete Morgan’ 81’s meeting by chance at a wedding for a dear friend!! My daughter actually knew about our common denominator WOOSTER and we sat together. What fun we all had reminiscing about the good old days. I even belted out the fight song!! Go Scots!!
