Wooster Singers to perform concert Nov. 20 focused on theme of light

The Wooster Singers, 69直播鈥檚 only all-treble choir, will perform a concert Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Gault Recital Hall in Scheide Music Center (525 E. University Street). In this Fall Concert, the Wooster Singers continue a tradition of performing music related to issues relevant to students and the community, this time with a theme that focuses on the concept of light.听

鈥淲e鈥檙e asking the audience to consider how people can be a light for one another and how to celebrate the unique light that exists within each person,鈥 explained director Victoria Peacock, adjunct instructor of music at the College.

Peacock is a choral conductor, singer, and educator. In addition to directing the Wooster Singers, she is the chorus coordinator at The Cleveland Orchestra and performs regularly with the Trinity Chamber Singers and the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus. Peacock holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in music composition from 69直播 and a master鈥檚 degree in choral conducting from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

Students in the choir include Imzadia Conrad 鈥23, Ellen Daugherty 鈥25, Elizabeth Kotora 鈥25, Danielle Libby 鈥26, Sophia Marshall 鈥23, Libby Merkel 鈥25, Jen Mynard 鈥23, Katrina Palmer 鈥25, Jordyn Risk 鈥26, Morgan Smock 鈥23, Sitara True 鈥25, Maud Utstein 鈥23, and Abby Washinger 鈥25. Pianist Toni Shreve will accompany the singers.听

Wooster Singers is open to all students without audition and performs music by composers of all backgrounds and periods throughout history. Performances feature students participating in their first choral ensemble experience, as well as students who are studying toward a career in music.
